The Patrol Division is staffed with 30 Police Officers, four Sergeants, 2 Lieutenants, and 2 Captains. The Patrol Division is broken down into three shifts with a Lieutenant and Sergeant supervising each shift. Officers on the patrol division work general patrol duties which include traffic enforcement, direction, and motorist assists. Also, officers are the intial response to calls for service, past occurred crimes, and in-progress crimes. Lastly, officers patrol the City of Gatlinburg to deter possible criminal behavior and maintain a safe environment for our visitors and residents. The Patrol Division handles close to 20,000 calls for service per year.
After graduating from a P.O.S.T. approved academy, successful completion of a fifteen week field training program, and gaining some experience as a patrol officer, a patrol officer can request to be trained in a number of specialties and be assigned additional duties.

The Patrol Division utilizes regular patrol officers assigned to different types of vehicles to efficiently protect and maintain the City of Gatlinburg. The Police Department has Chevrolet Impala Sedans, Chevrolet Trailblazer SUVs, Dodge Durango SUVs, Harley Davidson Road King Motorcycles, and Specialized and Fuji Mountain Bikes.
