Codes and Permits
Building Codes
On October 20, 2020 the Gatlinburg City Commission adopted Ordinances which upgraded the City from the 2012 International Building and Fire Codes to the 2018 International Building and Fire Codes.
These Codes went into effect on November 4, 2020. All building permit applications and design plans submitted after May 4, 2021 must comply with the 2018 Code requirements.

The 2018 Edition of the National Fire Protection Association (NEPA 101) Life Safety Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Building Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Plumbing Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Fuel Gas Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Energy Conservation Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Mechanical Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Property Maintenance Code
The 2018 Edition of the International Residential Code
The 2018 Edition of the Existing Building Code
The 2018 Swimming Pool and Spa Code
