Monthly Recreation Newsletter

The Gatlinburg Recreation Department publishes a monthly newsletter to inform citizens and visitors on upcoming programs and happenings at the Community Center, the City Parks, and the Recreation Department.

About the Department

The Gatlinburg Recreation Department consists of several components that work together to provide our citizens and visitors with a pleasant leisure experience. Three City parks, a 52,000 square foot Community Center, trout fishing in City waters, and the landscaping of all City-owned properties are offered to enhance the beauty of our City and to diversify recreation opportunities.

The Recreation Department has operational and maintenance responsibility for Mynatt Park, Mills Park, Herbert Holt Park, and the Community Center. The Department is also expected to coordinate the use of those facilities with other departments and agencies.

The Recreation Department is also responsible for maintaining Gatlinburg's Tree City USA status and for landscaping around all City Buildings, traffic islands, and street right-of-ways. In addition, it is responsible for maintaining all flower boxes located along the Parkway and River Road. Funding for Public Restrooms and the Trout Rearing Facility is established in the Recreation Departmental Budget.
