GATLINBURG, Tenn.—A project to renovate the Gatlinburg’s municipal Aquarium Parking Garage is underway.
Patrons who use the garage are being advised to use caution and prepare to encounter construction during the duration of the renovations, which are currently slated to conclude in mid-February or early March of 2024.
Handicap accessible parking, which is on the ground floor will be reserved each day. Those who wish to drop off patrons who are disabled may do so at a drop off area before entering the garage.
The scope of the renovation project includes the improvement of drainage throughout the facility, the installation of new stairwells, which will be enclosed, and the installation of two new elevators.
“The City apologizes for any inconveniences or disruptions at the Aquarium Parking Garage during this important renovation period,” City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle said. “These renovations will help improve parking at this garage for the benefit of visitors and employees, as well as ensure that the facility continues to provide parking for many years to come.”
Throughout the renovation project, the garage will remain open and accessible to the public. Slight reductions in parking capacity are possible daily and pedestrians entering and exiting the facility may encounter some detours.
