GATLINBURG, Tenn.—Gatlinburg City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle has been appointed to an inaugural board at the University of Tennessee. Ogle will serve on the University’s Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs Graduate Advisory Board. Previously, Ogle has served on the University of Tennessee’s Masters of Public Policy and Administration Advisory Board.
Ogle is a two-time graduate of the University of Tennessee, having earned a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services and a Masters in Public Administration.
Throughout her career, Ogle has been involved in public service, as she is the longest tenured City Manager of Gatlinburg, having served in the position since 1989. She was also honored in 2022 with the Zeno Wall Jr. Tourism Award, which is awarded annually for contributions to the growth, promotion, and success of tourism in Gatlinburg.
Ogle started her public service career in 1974 as a staff member for former U.S. Congressman John Duncan, then worked as a State Training Officer for the Department of Head Start Training at the University of Tennessee in 1975 and 1976. Her career with the City of Gatlinburg began in 1978 as a Grants Coordinator and she was quickly elevated to the position of Assistant City Manager the same year.
Graduate Advisory Board members will work in tandem with University faculty to prepare the next generation of those students planning to enter the public service profession as well as providing advice and counsel to the University’s faculty, students, and staff. Board members will also play a vital role in the revised MPA and MPP degrees that will be offered by the Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs.
