GATLINBURG, Tenn.—The Gatlinburg Bowling Center, which is located inside the Gatlinburg Community Center, has closed for renovations. The Gatlinburg City Commission approved a bid with Horner Building Company at its meeting on Monday, January 22 to begin the renovation project.
Community Center staff has started preparing the bowling center for renovations, with the renovation work beginning January 24. Renovations are expected to last through early October 2024.
“The Recreation Department is excited about this important Project to renovate the Bowling Center as these improvements aim to enhance the bowling experience,” Recreation Director Laurence Evans said. “While these renovations will cause a closure for the bowling center, we appreciate the community’s understanding and patience while we look forward to unveiling an upgraded experience later this year.”
This Project consists of the complete and total renovation of the Bowling Center, including replacing all lanes and equipment with updated technology from Brunswick. Also included in the scope of the renovations are a modernization of the facility including new wall, floor, and ceiling treatments inside the center and the adjacent game room.
This overhaul of the Bowling Center is the first since the facility was opened in 1989, as the facility still operates with the same equipment installed at that time.
