GATLINBURG, Tenn.—The City of Gatlinburg’s Public Works Departments are available for any spring cleaning junk removal for residential and commercial customers. The City’s Sanitation Department will pick up, free of charge, items not normally included in garbage collection.

“Scrap metal, old appliances, brush and other items will be accepted for disposal,” Gatlinburg Public Works Director Larry Henderson said. “We are happy to provide this service for our citizens and businesses on a year round basis.”

Residents can place items next to a City street, then call the Street Department for pickup. Some restrictions do apply, as Sanitation crews will not pick up debris from remodeling or demolition projects, tires, or old paint. Debris of this nature must be disposed by other means.

For more information or to schedule a pick-up time, call the Street Department at 865-430-1370.

Throughout the year, the Street Department provides the service of picking up brush each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and junk items on Tuesday and Thursday. The Department also provides leaf removal in the fall. Brush placed by the side of the road with tree limbs not to exceed eight feet in length or eight inches in diameter and can not include large logs or stumps. Junk piles cannot include televisions, or debris from the clearing of lots in construction work. Leaves must be placed in a location accessible by a large leaf vaccum truck and can not be mixed in with brush.

All items should be neatly stacked for collection purposes. Due to the Street Department's boom truck, it is requested that items not be placed under overhead wires. These items are also prohibited to be placed in a drainage ditch along public right of way, per Gatlinburg Municipal Code 16-108.

To schedule a pick-up for brush, junk, or leaves at your location, please call the Street Department at
(865) 430-1370.
