Initial road closures possible between Trinity Lane and Trentham Lane
GATLINBURG, Tenn.—A project to rehabilitate sewer lines under Reagan Drive will begin on Monday, July 8.
The utility work consists of sewer line replacement in the roadway and is an intensive project with trench excavation required. The extensive work will require the closure of portions of Reagan Drive.
“This is a very important infrastructure improvement project for the City of Gatlinburg to rehabilitate approximately 1,800 feet of original sewer line and will result in major improvements for customers in this area,” Utilities Manager Dale Phelps said. “We apologize for any inconveniences by the temporary detours caused by the construction work.”
Beginning on Monday, July 8, the project will begin in the 300 block of Reagan Drive, between its intersection with Trinity Lane and Trentham Lane. Detour signs will be present to assist motorists in navigating the work area. Motorists are advised to exercise caution as workers and equipment will be present during daytime work hours. Due to the excavation and construction materials needed for the project, the road closures will also remain in effect during nighttime hours as well.
The utility construction zone, along with associated road closures, will be progressing northward along Reagan Drive towards its intersection with Parkway. Throughout the project, the construction zone will be primarily between intersecting roads, which will allow traffic to detour around the work area.
The project is expected to be completed in October 2024. Hurst Excavating will be the contractor performing the work for the City.
