Reagan Drive closed at Parkway until Thursday, August 29

GATLINBURG, Tenn.—A project to rehabilitate sewer lines under Reagan Drive is continuing.

As of Monday, August 26, work continues in the 100 Block of Reagan Drive. Reagan Drive will be closed at its intersection of Parkway beginning Monday morning, August 26, through Thursday afternoon, August 29.

The utility work consists of sewer line replacement in the roadway and is an intensive project with trench excavation required. The extensive work will require closure of portions of Reagan Drive.

“This is a very important infrastructure improvement project for the City of Gatlinburg to rehabilitate approximately 1,800 feet of original sewer line and will result in major improvements for customers in this area,” Utilities Manager Dale Phelps said. “We apologize for any inconveniences by the temporary detours caused by the construction work.”

Project work in this new scope will be between Reagan Drive’s intersection with Parkway and its intersection with Reagan Lane. Detour signs will be present to assist motorists in navigating the work area. Motorists are advised to exercise caution in this are as workers and equipment will be present during daytime work hours. Due to the excavation and construction materials needed for the project, the road closures will also remain in effect during nighttime hours as well.

Throughout the project, the construction zone will be primarily between intersecting roads, which will allow traffic to detour around the work area.

The project is expected to be completed in October 2024. Hurst Excavating will be the contractor performing the work for the City.
