GATLINBURG, Tenn.—Effective Sunday, December 15, the Gatlinburg Trolley System is announcing an extension of its Winter operating hours to serve the citizens, visitors, and businesses of the City.
All Trolley routes, with the exception of the Yellow Route, will serve riders from 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m.
"The City is always seeking ways to better serve the citizens, visitors, and businesses of Gatlinburg, and extending the Gatlinburg Trolley System hours is another step toward achieving that goal," said Gatlinburg City Manager Greg Patterson. "By providing these expanded hours, this is an effort by the City to help enhance availability for Gatlinburg citizens and visitors, along with providing transportation in and around the downtown area to support the local economy.
“This will also allow another avenue for riders to enjoy the Winterfest Lights program, which light up the City through mid-February,” Patterson said.
The three routes which will have these expanded hours of 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. are the Red, Purple, and Blue Routes. The Red Route originates at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies and services River Road, a brief portion of Ski Mountain Road, Parkway from Traffic Light No. 10 to Traffic Light No. 8, the Airport Road Area, the Park Vista Hotel, and the Cherokee Orchard Road area before returning to Parkway at Traffic Light No. 6. The Purple Route will serve the Gatlinburg Welcome Center, Westgate Resorts and Parkway between Traffic Lights Nos. 1 and 5. The Blue Route will serve East Gatlinburg along U.S. Highway 321 and Parkway between Traffic Lights Nos. 3 and 5.
The Yellow Route, which serves the Glades and Buckhorn Road areas, will continue to operate Monday through Saturday during November and December between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.,
