GFD Training

GATLINBURG, Tenn.—The Gatlinburg Fire Department has made a significant investment in emergency medical care with the addition of Zoll X-Series Advanced Cardiac Monitors and Zoll Autopulse NXT Mechanical CPR Devices to its fleet of ambulances. These state-of-the-art tools will provide first responders with advanced capabilities to assess, treat, and transport patients experiencing cardiac emergencies.

The Zoll X-Series Advanced Cardiac Monitor is designed to give paramedics the most accurate real-time data in critical situations. With advanced monitoring functions such as expanded EKG capabilities, real-time CPR feedback, and enhanced defibrillation options, this device ensures patients receive the highest level of care in the field.

The Zoll Autopulse NXT Mechanical CPR Device automates chest compressions, delivering high-quality, consistent CPR to patients in cardiac arrest. This hands-free system allows firefighters and paramedics to focus on other life-saving interventions while ensuring uninterrupted circulation during transport.

To effectively implement these new devices, all Gatlinburg Fire Department personnel underwent specialized training to ensure proper operation and seamless integration into emergency response protocols. This training ensures that every firefighter-paramedic is fully prepared to maximize the effectiveness of these tools in life-threatening situations. Upon the completion of this training, the devices were placed into service on all of the City’s ambulance fleet.

“These new devices are another step forward in providing the best possible emergency medical care to the Gatlinburg community,” said Gatlinburg Fire Chief Charlie Cole. “This equipment allows the Department to deliver faster, more precise, and more efficient care in critical moments. We’re committed to equipping our team with the best technology available to save lives.”

The Gatlinburg Fire Department remains dedicated to enhancing emergency medical response capabilities for both residents and visitors. The addition of this new equipment underscores the City's commitment to public safety and providing first responders with the tools they need to protect the community.
